When Gibson acquired Epiphone in 1957, Epiphone began to produce very high quality flat-top models from the Kalamazoo factory. These models were typically highly ornamented using the finest materials available. The most highly regarded of the Epiphone models was the Excellente with its engraved and inlayed pickguard and pearl inlay headstock. Other models included the Frontier and the Texan.

Today, Epiphone continues to set this standard for acoustic excellence. Every Epiphone acoustic is hand-built to exact specifications based on decades of guitar building experience. From the hand-trimmed Epi-X bracing to the new Epiphonic-V Preamp and EQ (available on most Epiphone acoustics), there is no better acoustic or acoustic/electric than Epiphone.
