Do you want a premium guitar?

Do you want to pay a less than premium price?

Let me tell you how we can make this happen for you.

We offer name brand guitars that look and play like new at a significantly lower price than the national chains.  These guitars look and play like new and are in perfect mechanical condition.  Any visible repairs or blemishes on this guitar will be identified in this listing with a photo of it attached. Our guitars are not pre-owned. We hand select our instruments from a manufacturer certified repair and refurbisher.  In fact we purchase from the largest guitar refurbisher in the U.S.

The photos in this listing are of the guitar being offered.  We do not use stock photos.

Please be sure to read the entire listing before bidding.  All the information is important.

So, about this guitar.

Epiphone PR-5E Acoustic Electric Guitar

MSRP:  $548

For almost 20 years, the Epiphone PR-5E acoustic-electric guitar has taken the stage with countless musicians. Designed by Epiphone in 1990, its distinctive body shape was patterned after Epiphone's classic 335 guitars such as the Sheraton and Casino. But instead of a double-cutaway, it features a unique, single "Florentine" or sharp cutaway. The result is a large lower bout providing excellent lows and solid mid-range with easy access to the upper frets on the neck. The premium select spruce top uses a hand-scalloped, proprietary X-bracing pattern. Combined with the slightly arched mahogany back and mahogany sides, the PR-5E provides a sweet tone that projects well even when unplugged. Its Mahogany neck with SlimTaper profile, makes the PR-5E very easy and comfortable to play without fatigue. Legendary Grover machine heads for tuning accuracy and stability with premium gold hardware and split-diamond, pearloid fingerboard inlays make the PR-5E an extraordinary value.

The stock electronics have been replaced with an Elan-IV preamp.

Epiphone PR5-E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Features:

  • Top: Select, hand-scalloped Spruce
  • Sides: Mahogany
  • Back: Mahogany
  • Bridge: Rosewood
  • Fingerboard: Rosewood with Split-Diamond Inlays
  • Scale Length: 25.5"
  • Nut Width: 1.68"
  • Machine Heads: Grover
  • Hardware: Gold
  • Electronics: Elan - IV preamp
  • Output: 1/4", end pin

This guitar is in very good condition.  It is mechanically like new.  There are no pick marks or buckle scratches.  The neck is straight and there is no fret buzz.

There are a couple of items to note. First there is a small scratch on the front (see photos.) Second the preamp has been replaced with an Elan-IV preamp. Finally there are some polishing marks.

So what’s the story on our instruments?

The refurbisher that I work with purchases guitars directly from the manufacturer.  These guitars did not pass the manufacturers quality control or they were returned to the manufacturer from music stores unsold for one reason or other. Generally these guitars have minor finish imperfections, minor damage that occurred during manufacture, or minor issues with electronics or hardware. Music store returns sometimes have been used as demos and may have light pick scratches.

The refurbisher uses a six step inspection process as part of their restoration process. These inspections begin when they receive the instrument to identify all issues that need to be addressed. Inspections continue throughout the restoration process with a final inspection of all components once the restoration is complete.

We hand select all guitars that we offer for sale from the refurbisher’s inventory of over 3000 guitars. We also test each guitar to ensure that all of the components work properly. As we offer each guitar for sale, we include information on any visible repairs and provide photos.

Through this process we know that the guitars we offer have been MORE thoroughly inspected than their “new” counterparts. Our reputation is on the line with every guitar we sell and want to be sure that we offer only the best guitars.

So, what is the deal with the “used” stamp if these guitars are not “pre-owned”?

During the restoration process the guitar is stamped “used” in small letters on the back of the headstock.  At the same time, the original serial number was removed and replaced with a serial number assigned by the refurbisher.  This is done to prevent warranty claims as these guitars are offered without warranty.  This also protects buyers from unscrupulous sellers that may try to pass them off as “new” guitars.

How do you pay for it?

We require Paypal payments at time of sale unless other arrangements are made prior to bidding.

Tennessee buyers or sales where the guitar will be shipped to Tennessee addresses, please note that sales tax of 9.25% will be added to the sales price at the time of payment.

So how are we going to get the goods to you?

We ship for $15 Fedex Ground to the 48 continental United States. Please get with us for shipping costs to all other US locations prior to bidding.

We do ship internationally. Please contact us for shipping costs to international locations prior to bidding. International shipments are sent either USPS or Fedex.

International Buyers  - you will have to pay any customs duties, taxes, VAT or fees necessary to get the guitar to clear customs when entering your country.

How do we get it to you in one piece?

We will carefully pack the instrument.  We prep the guitar for shipment by loosening the strings to reduce stress on the neck during shipping. The guitar will first be packed into a guitar box.  It is then packed into a shipping box with additional padding for greater protection.  We also have the shipment insured.

What if there is a problem with the guitar once you get it?

We go the distance to make sure our customer’s are satisfied with their new guitar.  Satisfied customer make repeat customers.  We take pride in our near 100% FEEDBACK SCORE.  Here's your protection: You can return any guitar in the original condition within 3 business days of receiving it for any reason for a full refund.  Before returning, you will need to contact us to let us know.  When returning be sure to repackage the guitar the way it was shipped to you, ship with insurance and e-mail us the tracking number.  The buyer is responsible for all return shipping costs. Our guitars are very high quality instruments and we're confident you'll really enjoy them.

International Customers, I am unable to offer a return policy on international sales.  All international sales are final.

If the guitar is damaged when you receive it, you must notify us within 24 hours of receipt. Please retain all packing material.  We will arrange for the return of the item and will handle all insurance claims.  Once you have notified us of the damage we will give you instructions on what to do.

Feedback – We need your feedback.

Your feedback is critical to our success.  Since we don’t have a brick and mortar store-front, the only way new customers can get to know us is through the experiences of previous customers.

Once you have received your guitar and are satisfied with it (we are certain that you will be satisfied), please take a moment to submit positive feedback for us on ebay.

If (in the unlikely event) you are not satisfied in any way, please contact us with your concerns before posting feedback.  We want to make sure you are satisfied with both your new guitar and with the service we have provided.
